Calor gas tanks at Harvey's Close

Developers at Harvey’s Close have applied for retrospective planning on these three (you can only see the covers of two in the picture) underground Calor gas tanks and their control box. They have been situated in the middle of the area which was to be given to the village as a public space as part of the planning arrangement (this sort of thing is usual with large developments, sometimes parishes receive money). It completely ruins the area as a public space and is an open invitation to vandalism. The developers are clearly taking the Mickey.

  • The builder will probably get planning for the underground tanks they seem to get planning for everything else they desire

  • Quick note to "D":

Thanks for your comments - I am just checking it out to see if it is libellous or not. Sometimes it is obvious but yours isn't. I hate to block anything and will allow as much as I can. Just remember it's me that has to go round apologising!

  • I think I'll build an extension and put grass on the roof. I promise to keep it mowed and teh edges tidy. Will that be enough to get permission? S

  • So what is happening to these tanks? Are they to remain or will planning be passed. I suggest as many people as possible object via the planning page.

  • They will probably get it they seem to get everything else they want,it seems individuals get sod all the planning system is out of date and favours builder's rather than joe public and it doesn't seem to change.

  • Apparently the application has been withdrawn I hope that will be the end of it.SD

  • Unfortunately this is unlikely to be the end of it. The application was retrospective so the tanks are still there. Normally an application is withdrawn so that a new, modified application can be made. We will have to wait and see. If there is a new application at least we will all get another chance of writng to WDDC planning about it.
