Dog's mess
A couple of people have mentioned that we need a thread on dog's mess, so here it is. I will post their comments in this thread as well. Dog's mess is a terrible feature of village life and for some reason it is in the villages that the biggest problem occurs. I spent three days with my family walking around London last year. We walked miles and never saw any. You can't walk 20 metres in Maiden Newton. According to my mate who lives in London it is simply not tolerated there. We must adopt the same attitude here.
Surprisingly my efforts of scrawling, in crayon, "Clean up your dog's mess!" near offending piles does actually work - for a while. Only the most sociopathic of personalities are completely immune from social censure.
Thanks to the person who offered photographic evidence! We could have a Dog S*** page under the Photos section of the website, complete with thumbnails. Perhaps Dog T*** of the Month.

Can we please have a thread about the dogs mess problem in both villages. Does anyone else find it as disgusting as I do when you have to pick your way along the pavements in the mornings. People have no shame...

I agree with the comments made about the dogs mess it is disgusting, maybe having dogs waste bins dotted around might help, but obviously having responsible owners would be an ideal situation. The so called dog warden should also be more visible i personally have never seen one.I do sympathise with you and have seen it first hand with the children turning up at the school after treading in this mess.S

Photos: sorry, I really wasn't being sarcastic about the photos. I have often thought of taking pictures and putting them on the website... but....Yuck!!
Of course if you meant what I suppose we could call "action shots" they would be useful. Not sure I would want them on the website though. Perhaps we could pin them up around the village if the owner could be identified.
The dog warden is actually quite good and she does come to the village fairly often. The Parish Council write to her fairly frequently. Trouble is she is the only one in West Dorset, though she has and assistant I think.

Sunday morning, walk out of the gate to be greeted by a trail of dog t**ds right outside my house, I have a photograph of this if John wants it!
There is no excuse for this, if Dog Wardens and the prospect of fines, as well as manners and common decency do nothing to curb this sociopathic behaviour then I think that the perpetrators should be named and shamed. Just wait 'till I get my videophone next week...

I had the same problem right outside my garden gate,it is not pleasant, you need eyes everywhere just to go out in the village these days.My daughter also had a nasty surprise when we got home from a bike ride dog sh--t all over the wheel of her bike very nice indeed.Something has got to be done about this as it is just getting worse.S

The posters are an excellent idea, sadly the dog owners will probably ignore them, it's a shame that dogs cannot read.

Yet again more mess on the pavements this weekend, one of the culprits lives in whitehall and i am waiting to get photo proof before saying more.People should not have dogs if they can't stop them messing everywhere or leave them to constantly bark S

I had an argument with a person who i saw letting his dog mess on the bank at the end of my garden,i have not seen him before but he did eventually clear it up when i gave him a bag.The only problem was he wasn't very happy and i did get abit of bad language aimed at me but it was worth it at least he did clean it up.S
